Tomorrow, at the Lord Combermere, there is a gold buying and free antique valuations day.

It runs from 12.00noon until 4.00pm on Tuesday 6th September and, of course, excellent food and drink is available.

The afternoon is run by Nantwich Antique Valuers of Smithy House, Heatley Lane, Broomhall near Nantwich. They say that if your items are too large, fragile, numerous – or you cannot make it on the day – they will be pleased to arrange a home visit.

You can call them on 0800 389 7080 or email: valuations@churchsideantiques.org.uk

As well as gold buying and free valuations, they say: "We also purchase unwanted antiques and collectables: Wrist and pocket watches; Omega; Rolex; Jewellery (even if broken): Paintings; Silver & Gold; Pottery: Old postcards; Fishing tackle; Concertinas; Medals; Coins;Clocks; Fountain pens; Dolls and toys; War memorabilia and pre-1947 silver coins."

They add: "Broken pieces of gold are always purchased."
