Hatherton-based cheesemaker Joseph Heler lifted a clutch of gold awards at this year's Nantwich Show.

Gold awards went to Joseph Heler for it Caerphilly and Mature Cheddar cheeses against stiff competition from thousands of entries.

The Hatherton dairy also picked up awards for its Cheshire and Red Leicester cheeses.

The Supreme Champion award went to specialist Stilton cheesemakers Long Clawson Dairy of Melton mowbray for its Claxstone Smooth Blue.

This year's Nantwich Show cheese competition attracted a record 4,286 competitors in 283 categories from 27 countries.

Cheese show chairman Richard Paul said: "The standard across the board was extremely high. Our panel of 190 judges really did have their work cut out."
