We were all dressed to impression Friday as we fund raised for Children in Need! Our School Parliament planned our themed day and we all arrived at school dressed as a Superhero from a comic or someone who is their hero to us. The Parliament members will also be busy running a cake sale this afternoon and their hard work organising and arranging today is all worthwhile, as they have raised lots of money for this charity. Thank you for your contributions and support.

This week had been 'Our World Week' in school with all classes looking at Global themes and issues as well and using their map and geography skills to help them 'navigate' the globe. The week began with a special launch assembly led by Mr Perry and our Anti Bullying Ambassadors who introduced themselves to the rest of the school through a PowerPoint, which they designed themselves. They talked about their role and how they aim to empower everyone to tackle all types of bullying in the community and 'our world' on our doorstep.

They have really impressed both Mr Perry and I with their hard work and good ideas in this role and I look forward to updating you further during this year about more of their work.

Our Global Ambassadors have been busy working with Miss Danha to promote our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal across school – don't forget the last day for shoeboxes to be sent into school is Wednesday 18th November – thank you to all of the families who have already sent their donations into school.

School has been filled with wonderful sights, sounds and smells as classes have made African banana cake as well as singing songs and dancing from a variety of countries around the world. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the children in KS1 worked with Mrs Onicas to make some delicious biscuits using a traditional Romanian recipe. The children learnt all about kneading their dough and separating egg whites and egg yolks when making a meringue.

On Thursday all the children in school were visited by Mr Vance from the 'Local History Days'. The children learnt about all the different things that happened in Audlem during different periods in History. They looked at what happened during the Victorian era, the Roman times, the Tudor times and what happened during World War Two. Some children were very vocal about how boys and girls were treated in different periods of time in History!

We were also treated to a wonderful 'Around the World' Lunch yesterday with children and staff trying out flavours from a variety of countries, linked to our themed week. Many thanks to Mrs Hayward for all of the time and effort she put into this special event.

Children across school will be visiting each other's classrooms today to experience a Global 'Roundabout' of their own to showcase and share some of their learning from the week. Some of the wonderful work from classes will be displayed throughout school over the coming weeks please look out for it! Thank you to Miss Danha for leading this special week in school.

Amber class treated us to a wonderful class assembly yesterday. It was based on all of their work so far this year and they thrilled their audience with a wonderful array of their talents including singing, acting, writing, artwork and geography and history facts and skills. Thanks to Mrs Stoker and the children for sharing such an interesting and enjoyable assembly.

Children across school paused to remember in school this week as we all stopped to focus on the bravery, sacrifice, suffering and resulting peace members of the forces, both past and present, have given for us. Thank you to our Head Girl and Boy for leading us in our two minutes silence on Wednesday.

The children in KS1 worked with Mrs Thornton-Jones and Miss Jones to create their very own poppies to mark Remembrance day. The children worked really hard to cut out the shapes from felt and glue the different part of the poppies, the final results are wonderful!

PCSOs Nick and Steph visited us for their half termly lunchtime drop in session on Tuesday, giving the children an opportunity to ask them questions and talk to them both. They will visit again next half term and we will also be welcoming PCSO Nick into school to talk to children about safety after Christmas.

Pearl and Sapphire classes have been asking 'What was it like to go to school in Audlem in the 1960's?' and luckily one of our parents, Mr Spibey, was happy share his memories of Primary School in Audlem in 1968. He shared his favourite lessons, talked about his classroom and his favourite teachers. The children were captivated. They then compared school life past and present and they discussed the similarities and differences they found.

The children in Key Stage 1 and Diamond class have been learning about their sense of sight and the eye. On Friday last week, the children were visited by Miss Hove, an optometrist. They had lots of fun learning about the job of an optometrist, looking at different lenses, looking at a model of the eye and playing 'pin the eye on the minion'! Some children were so inspired they even asked Miss Hove what they could study to be an optometrist.

Prayers to Share this week – We pray for all of those we have learnt and heard about throughout our special themed week in school.

Thank you to all of the parents and other family members who joined us on Tuesday morning for our Active Audlem session, luckily the weather was kind to us and it was wonderful to see so many children and relatives joining in!

Good luck to our Football Team who are in action on Friday evening against Sound and District Primary in the quarter finals of the South Cheshire shield. I will update you with how they get on in next week's newsletter.

News from FASA

As the Big Switch On draws nearer, FASA are busy preparing for the event by organising a Tombola stall, which will be set up in the village to raise money for our school. To collect items for the stall, we will be holding a Non Uniform Day in school next Friday (20th). We are asking families to donate a bottle or chocolates for the stall on this day.

Our Key Stage 2 children will be singing on the Church steps as part of the Switch On – we will be sending home letters about this today to all Key Stage 2 children – please look out for these.

Christmas Lunch Orders

Our Christmas Lunch will be held on Thursday 3rd December this year. We sent out a letter yesterday for orders to be placed. Please look out for this in your children's reading bags and return it to school before Friday 20th November. Thank you.

Gritting at School

As the weather gets colder, I would like to draw your attention to our gritting plan for
school in the event of icy weather. Our Caretaker, Mrs Naden will grit identified pathways on such days and parents and children must only use these routes for their own safety.

There will be a gritted path from the main gate to the main entrance but this is for vehicle access only. Pedestrians must use the gritted footpath along the side of the car park and, for safety, access this through the small gate NOT the car park gate. There will also be a gritted pathway around the perimeter of the main building up to the Highfield Drive entrance. Please note the Heathfield Road playground entrance gate will remain locked on these occasions.
Thank you for your support with this.

Finally

Don't forget our next Parent Forum meeting next Wednesday (18th November) from 9.00am – 10.00am (refreshments available from 8.45am). If you have comments on agenda items but are unable to attend, please send your comments on the reply slip attached to the agenda, which was sent out to all families last week, so that your views can be shared at the meeting. I look forward to meeting with parents and carers then.
