George has shrugged off a vandal attack on his attractive canalside shop and is back in business.

Vandals broke into George's Pork & Poultry brick building, near Lock 15 on the Audlem canal, earlier this month and stole or destroyed stock worth about £250.

Now George is back in business selling gluten-free meat products, local grown vegetables, fresh fruit and free range eggs at the beautiful canal-side spot north of the Shroppie Fly.

'I'd just like to thank all the local people who have lent their support since the break-in. This has been a big setback but we are now back in business,' said Danny George.

A new security alarm system has been installed at the brick shed and no valuable merchandise will be left overnight.

The canal shop has 30 flavours of sausages, many gluten-free, as well as bacon, pork, burgers, hen and duck eggs, fresh fruit and locally grown vegetables. The shop is open 9.30am-5pm every day and there is a free delivery service within 5 miles of Audlem.

As well as selling to passing canal boats many villagers now wander down to the pretty canal-side spot for some fresh food shopping.

Three youths were seen near Lock 15 in the early hours of June 14/15 and anyone with information can contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000.
