Audlem Fire Station is re-launching its Fire Cadet Unit and is looking for enthusiastic young people to join by inviting them to an open evening.

The Station is keen to recruit young people aged between 13 and 18 years of age to take part in this rewarding scheme. Cadets attend meetings every Tuesday for a drill night from 6.30 -8.30pm at the Shropshire Street Fire Station.

#Open Evening
Cadets don't need to live in Audlem to be part of the unit and anyone interested should go along to the open evening at the Audlem Fire Station on Wednesday, June 13th where neighbouring cadet unit Nantwich will be putting on a display.

This will highlight some of the fire drills, which include hose and ladder use, that cadets perform weekly at their drill nights.

Apart from the weekly meetings cadets also take part in additional activities at weekends and during the school holidays, which include residential stays, local camps and national camp trips. They are also involved in fundraising activities for the Firefighters Charity.

#Uniform
All Cheshire Fire Cadets get a free uniform and also a fire kit, which is similar to that worn by firefighters, from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the evenings are free to attend, but there may be a small charge towards refreshments.

Councillor David Topping, Chair of the Fire Authority said: "The cadet scheme is a fantastic initiative and enables young people to make a real difference to their local community by supporting the work of the firefighters.

"I would encourage any young people to become a fire cadet with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. By going along to this open evening you can see firsthand what being a fire cadet is all about and hopefully get involved."
