This week's collection of green bins in the Audlem area will be the last. After this all recycling material will go into the grey bins, including newspapers, bottles and silver paper.

The only items (apart from non-recyclable household waste and garden waste) which must not go into the grey bins will be polystyrene material and plastic plant pots.

The date of this last collection has been a bit difficult to pin down exactly – we have established that the final green bin collection for Cheshire Street, Stafford Street, Shropshire Street, Heathfield Road, Heywoods Ridge and Daisy Bank Crescent (and by implication the whole of the centre of Audlem) will be tomorrow, Thursday April 14th.

Apparently the Paddock Lane, Kettle Lane and Bagley Lane area were collected last Thursday, April 7th, whereas the Cox Bank area will be today, Wednesday April 13th.

When the final collection is made, another lorry will follow on behind collecting the actual green bin itself.

Caroline Griffies, Senior Streetscape Officer for Cheshire East, says: "You will then be able to use the silver bin to dispose of paper; other items can also be disposed of in the silver bin after the 9th May and all households will be receiving an information pack any time now.

"If there are any green bins that have missed the last collection date, they can be put out with the silver bin and emptied. They will then be collected in as long as individuals make contact with the Waste and Recycling office to make the necessary arrangements."
