The Fat Pigeon was the beginning of new beginnings for the Haughey's, our 'Driving over lemons' if you like, a new direction for our journey to the promised land of our sunshine days.

Hoc's Fat Pigeon opened in the early days of Spring of 2010 as the winter melted away, and with all the enthusiasm that such ventures bring, was warmly welcomed to Cheshire Street.

The days flowed through the first year, with new faces calling in to say hello everyday and optimism grew for a viable and welcome addition to the village.

And so we believed, this would be our life and our jigsaw piece in village life, for the foreseeable. We blossomed with the clematis in the walled garden of the Fat Pigeon that became "the Nest".

A place full of happy and emotional times, moments that will never be forgotten, and the pleasure that was clear on the faces of all those who came and enjoyed the emporium, the music, the friendship, and just to pass some time.

The Fat Pigeon has been more than just a natural shop, it has been a big part of our life's adventure, and, as with every adventure there was the beginning, excited planning, then a journey of high times and moments of danger, times shared with passers by, and more frequently with many people we have come to know and share that time with.

A number of other directions we were travelling in parallel, that are now starting to pull strongly, and the need to focus closer on our nearest and dearest, has demanded that many hard decisions have had to be wrangled and fought over of late.

This adventure of ours has taken some very hard twists and turns that have played a heavy hand and will see this chapter very shortly close.

We wanted not to say goodbye, though our decision is made, we do not see this as an ultimate end to the Fat Pigeon, and wish to thank every one of you who's played a part together with us at Hoc's Fat Pigeon, for those that have contributed to the memories along this journey.

This door will close but our dreams remain strong, here's to many more dreams.
