Further to Nigel Epps story about the last Vulcan flight in the North yesterday, we were treated to the wonderful sight of the 'Spirit of Great Britain' Avro Vulcan B2 as predicted at 3.25pm yesterday (at Snugbury's Ice cream field), as the mighty aircraft transited from Woodford near Stockport (where it was built) to Cosford as part of it's northern UK tour which included various flypasts at Newcastle, Edinburgh Airport, Carlisle Airport, Windermere, Warton, & Salmesbury.
About 150 people stood in awe as the mighty machine passed over to cheers and delight from the crowd! We managed to get these snaps as the plane gracefully overflew the field!
The plane does the southern UK tour today (Sunday) though the 'Vulcan to the Sky' trust say they hope to run a couple of further flights before the end of October when this wonderful plane (sadly) finally retires from flying service."
