The 1st XI had a bad day at the office last Saturday, as visitors Ellesmere Port crushed them by 9 wickets. As a result they dropped out of the automatic promotion slot in Division 2 of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance.

Skipper Chris Shenton lost the toss and Ellesmere Port decided to field first. This proved to be a wise decision as Audlem were skittled for just 50 runs. Only Richard Wilson, Stuart Elkes and Lyndon Woodcock managed to record double figures. Port's Dwayne Bernard was the demolisher-in-chief, taking 7 wickets for 23.

In reply the visitors only needed 14 overs to complete the rout, losing one wicket in the process. Kemal Toraman was the successful bowler, assisted by Andy Rothwell's catch.

Audlem only gained 1 point and Port 20. As a result, the 1st XI slip to third place, 4 points behind Saughall, who drew with leaders Glazebury.

On Saturday the 1st XI entertain Trinity at the Gorse Croft. Play starts at 2.00 pm.
