A cyclist died in a collision on the A530 near Burleydam and a lorry driver is being hunted by police.
The lorry failed to stop after the accident which happened on the notorious A530 Whitchurch to Nantwich road at Aston.
The lorry and the cyclist were believed to be travelling from Nantwich in the direction of Whitchurch near to Baddeley Bridge. The cyclist has not yet been named.
The lorry driver failed to stop at the scene and is believed to have left in the direction of Whitchurch. Police describe the lorry as light coloured with blue or green markings on the side.
Paramedics were called but the cyclist was declared dead at the scene. Police closed the road in both directions for most of the day after the incident which happened at about 1.40pm yesterday (November 12).
Officers have carried out door to door enquiries in the area to see if anyone saw the lorry before or after the accident. They are also checking CCTV and security cameras for any clues about the possible identity of the lorry driver.
The Road Safety Foundation charity declared the A530 between Nantwich and Burleydam as the fifth most dangerous stretch in Britain after figures showed 23 deaths on the eight-mile route between 2007 and 2011.
Anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information, which might assist officers with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 453 of 12 November.
