A big Thank You to Audlem for welcoming Rev. Rob on his way from Land's End to John O'Groats

Rob Wykes from Christian Concern in Crewe received a unanimous and warm welcome as he cycled through Audlem yesterday, 8th June.

In the morning, four friends and colleagues had joined him in Broseley near Ironbridge to cycle with him on his wettest day yet.

As they arrived in the centre of Audlem, a big cheer arose from the direction of the Buttermarket, where welcoming representatives from St James's C of E, Audlem Methodist Church and Audlem Baptist Chapel had been waiting together with staff, volunteers and friends from Christian Concern.

After fixing one of the bikes, they were whisked off, wet as they were, to St James's, where a lush buffet had been organised for them by Judy Tarrant from St James's and provided by Debbie Miles from the Coffee Lounge in Audlem.

More supporters who had heard of it through the Audlem website or had followed Rob's blog on www.stpaulscentre.blogspot.com joined, whilst Rob and his team were strengthened by the scrumptious food. Staff at The Lord Combermere in the centre of Audlem took one of the donation buckets and promised to keep it on the bar until the weekend.

Lis Fisher, resident of Audlem and manager of the Community and Business Re-source Centre at St Paul's, said, 'The support we got from the folk at Audlem was overwhelming. When we heard last week that all the churches were spontaneously organising a spread for Rob and team, a cheer went up in the office!'

You can continue to follow Rob's progress towards John O'Groats and leave him encouraging comments on www.stpaulscentre.blogspot.com or sponsor him on www.justgiving.com/Rob-Wykes

Thanks again from everyone at Christian Concern to all those in Audlem who supported us on the day and also those who donate furniture on a regular basis and pray for us.
