A man arrested in connection with the death of 65-year-old cyclist Stewart Gandy has been granted bail

The 36-year-old man was arrested in Wigan and was quizzed by Cheshire Police officers about the accident on the A530 near Burleydam.

He has now been bailed pending further enquiries. Police officers have traced a lorry believed to be involved in the collision and enquiries are continuing.

Stewart Gandy, 65, from Wistaston near Crewe was cycling to Audlem when he was in a collision with a lorry, near Aston, at about 1.40pm on Tuesday November 12.

Mr Gandy died at the scene and the lorry failed to stop. Police closed the busy A530 road for several hours in both directions for forensic examination.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information, which might assist officers with inquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 453 of 12 November.
