Audlem 1st XI's poor start to the season continued when they were defeated by Wilmslow Wayfarers by eight wickets in the Cheshire Building Society Alliance Division 2 match.

Batting first, Audlem started well before losing the first wicket with the score at 31. They were soon in trouble, however, at 47 for 5. Wicketkeeper Paul Dean came to the rescue sharing stands of 24 with Dave Baxter and 63 with Dave Parry. Parry was eventually run out for 24 chasing a quick single with the score at 144. The last three wickets went down quickly with the addition of only one run. Dean was ninth man out, scoring 36. Skipper Steve Swallow once again batted well and scored 33.

Wayfarers, who were relegated from Division 1 last season, soon took control of the match and knocked off the required runs, losing only two wickets. Both of these were taken by Dave Adlard, who finished with 2 for 25.

In the reverse fixture the 2nd XI did not play as Wayfarers' ground was being used for an international lacrosse tournament. The match has been rearranged for early June.

Next Saturday the 1st XI travel to Glazebury whilst the 2nd XI entertain Heaton Mersey Village at the Gorsecroft.
