Audlem are the new leaders of the division after their victory over Porthill Park on Saturday as they opened up a two point advantage over Stafford who lost to Leycett. Richard Wilson's 83 which contained 15 fours and one maximum underpinned Audlem's progress to 216 for 6 from their allocation. Tom Measures ( 37 ). Kamal Toraman ( 27 not out ), Jack Allman ( 20 ) & Irfan Shaik ( 18 ) also starred to keep the scoreboard ticking over. D. Coxon & R. Bansal shared four of the wickets to fall.
L. Turner hit 11 boundaries in a fine 56 not out , however Porthill Park fell short on 160 for 6 when time was called as Simon Swift claimed 3 for 22, Jack Allman 2 for 39 & Dave Parkinson 1 for 23.
The fixture secretary was again kept busy as scheduled opponents, Tattenhall cried off midweek but Elworth came to the rescue as they too were without a game.
Audlem found themselves in unfamiliar territory as on losing the toss were asked to field first. Connor Howard was his usual miserly self with a fine opening spell conceding just 9 runs from his 8 over spell and claiming a wicket. He was well backed up by young Alfie Hardy ( 1 for 21 ) and Molly Fernyhough ( 2 for 18 ) who both bowled beautifully to restrict the early batsmen. In the latter stages of the innings Steve Neale ( 2 for 40 ), Richard Irvine ( 1 for 10 ) & Dave Parkinson ( 1 for 44 ) were instrumental in keeping the score to a manageable 158 for 9 off their 40 overs.
Audlem were always on top in the run chase thanks to the efforts of Bertie Hardy ( 23 ), Michael Burton ( 37 ) and Jake Topping who completed his first half century for the club with a finely constructed 52 not out & Matthew Furber in his first outing of the season after returning from New Zealand stroking a well constructed 21 as the hosts crossed the line in the 29th over for the loss of 4 wickets.
Next weekend Audlem league X1 travel to the Staffordshire Moorlands to face Cheadle whilst their Sunday counterparts head to Barrow ( Chester ) with both games scheduled for a 1.00pm start.
