Crashed Aeroplane

My 'Uncle Eric' Buckley (He wasn't my real Uncle but I couldn't just call him Eric, wouldn't be right, would it?) when I was young, told me of an aeroplane during WW2 that crashed in a field on what is now Helers Farm land but was then Yarwoods Farm, or 'The Parkes', just off Monks Lane.

He and his Father, Job, ran to the site when they heard the noise and later salvaged a gun sight which he used as a poker stand for many years. Also, a few residents, years ago, told me of a piece of silk and a rope in a tree in Hankelow that may have been from the same time.

As a youngster, I went to see it but now, as an oldster, I went back and it's not there. I was told last week by an ex resident of Audlem that, as school children, they would be taken to a building in Audlem (place name omitted as there a people living in it) to see some of the remains of the aircraft; propeller, gauges etc.

Also, he thinks the Airmen are buried in our Cemetery. I went to the Cemetery to the area he said, bottom left hand corner, and whilst there are Forces graves there, none that would tie in with this incident. Does anyone know any more about it please?
