The closure of Buerton School looks a formality after Cheshire County Council's executive voted by 33 votes to 2 for the school to go. County Council leader Cllr. Paul Findlow said: "It was sad to reach this decision but numbers dictate that something must be done." He said that he had helped to save it when the school was last threatened by closure in the 1990's. County Councillor Arthur Moran said that parents and local people had worked hard to put up a good argument against closure. He said: "I would urge parents at Buerton not to give up – the decision still has to go through statutory consultation." Parents now have six weeks to object to the decision.
