St. Peter's, Adderley, is presenting a Tribute to Lorna on Friday 19th May at 7.30 PM. Her son, Nigel, is bringing his Shrewsbury School's Brass Orchestra and they will be performing in the redundant part of St. Peter's. If their past performances are anything to go by they will be performing a variety of well-known and loved pieces in their own indomitable style.
Lorna, together with her husband Lesley, have been part of Adderley for the past 35 years – since 1971 when they, and their 4 young children, moved into Cobscot Hey. Lorna originally taught economics part time at the Girls grammer school in Crewe but the move to Adderley with the 4 children ranging in years from Susie at 2 to Nigel at 8 via Matthew and Angus meant Lorna was a full time mother for a while. Soon, however, she found herself teaching at Woore primary school where she gained a huge reputation for her brilliance in teaching maths. Music was Lorna's first love, however, and she taught piano at the Grove in Market Drayton plus she had numerous pupils at home. Their 4 children are all musically gifted and a huge credit to both Lorna and Lesley. Lorna was deeply involved in Adderley and took an active part in just about everything from the school to St. Peter's and could be counted upon to rustle up food for 50 at the drop of a hat! Lorna's great joy were her grandchildren and she especially loved having them to stay at Cobscot Hey – a wonderful rambling home which lent itself to huge extended families and reunions. Everywhere Lorna went she was loved, her friends were countless and she is deeply missed by us all in Adderley. This tribute is our way of saying thank you to Lorna and remembering all the fun times we had together.
The performance begins at 7.30 PM. and tickets are £6.00 adults and £4.00 children, and can be purchased at the door. For enquiries please ring 01630-657883 or 01630-638671.
