Concerned Audlem residents objected at this week's Parish Council meeting over proposals for a road to be built through a field to allow a different access on to Woore Road rather than alongside Ivy Cottage. Local resident Geoff Youle said: "We've not seen a traffic incident outside Ivy Cottage yet incidents outside Mount Pleasant and Woore Road have been many. There's also the question of the state of Mount Plaesant and it's not going to get better with extra traffic moving along it."

Parish Councillors agreed to back the villagers and object to the plans citing highway safety and the possible impact on a conservation area. Cllr. Bill Consterdine said: "It is a nonsense. The access we have now is better than the proposal. We will object to this and support the residents." A similar application was turned down 20 years ago.
