Popular local musician and BBC Introducing 'Pick for 2013' Heidi Browne has been given the big thumbs up by judges at the Open Mic UK auditions, held at The Palace Hotel, Manchester earlier this month.

Along with other impressive acts, Heidi Browne has made it through to the Open Mic UK 2013 Regional Finals and will now be performing in the live showcases of the competition, held at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester on October 6th.

Open Mic UK 2013 is the biggest music competition in the UK for singers and solo artists, searching for the UK's best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material. Heidi said "unlike X Factor and The Voice, this competition seemed more suited to me, as a singer-songwriter playing original music."

Heidi Browne plays violin, flute, piano and guitar with a voice described by BBC Radio 2's Tom Robinson as 'immaculate'. She is now in the running to compete for a place in the Grand Final within The O2 in London.

Following the release of her first album 'Table 4 One' in 2011, BBC Radio 2's Tom Robinson picked Heidi Browne's song 'G.I.R.L.F.R.I.E.N.D' for his BBC 6 Mixtape. This quirky pop number was song of the month on BBC Radio Shropshire and it went on to be played on stations around the UK. She was interviewed on BBC Radio Shropshire last week, and can be heard on BBC Radio Stoke next Tuesday lunchtime.

The Regional Finals of OPEN MIC UK will be held at:

The Royal Northern College of Music
Manchester
October 6th @ 7.30pm

The show will consist of around 20 acts, each performing before a studio audience and a panel of Music Industry Judges who will give an X-Factor style critique of each artist. If you would like to come and support Heidi at the Open Mic UK regional finals, tickets, priced at £8 are available through her website: www.heidibrowne.co.uk.

Heidi's website includes her popular blog, gig listings as well as a mailing list which AudlemOnline readers are welcome to join.
