Ian Haughey reports...

Well, a last minute change of venue due to the inclement summer weather

did not stop, in Carlsberg parlance, probably the best Chilli night to

date. Thanks to Mel for sorting the Audlem Scout & Guide Hall (the

traditional Chilli Night venue) at the last minute really, which enabled the

Solstice celebration to take place. The room filled up from 6.30 as

the expectant crowd poured in to the hall, creating a warm and

friendly atmosphere. Again great to see families and friends mixing

together, and a number of new faces coming along to enjoy the evening.

The Duffey Boys introduced the night with a couple of mellow numbers

to start an acoustic line up. Enya & Ronan stepped in for the

opening act, and their debut, with a cover of Wonderwall, followed by

self penned Hillside, Beautiful and In the end.

The ever improving Reuben Palin followed with Foo fighters times like

these; machines (Biffy Clyro); Motley Crue home sweet home; Ting Tings

Great DJ and finished with Good riddance, Janey Marshall guesting on fiddle.

Next it was great to have Dan Logan playing back in Audlem, this time

with Dave on acoustic Bass, Guitar and Vocals playing some of Dan's

self penned work, finishing off the acoustic sets.

Short break for a bowl of the various Chilli's available while the

stage area was rearranged for the first of the bands, Monkey Shoulder

(or as everyone else referred to the multi-named band, Tom, Tom and

Ade!). Let's just say that the volume hit 11, but what a fantastic

rock set they produced, Pearl Jam lives on in these guys and who could

not enjoy 'bubble'? The dancing had started, Fantastic!

Crash Course kept the dance floor busy, Goose leading this talented

band through their Pop Punk / Rock / Powerpop set including Shot in

the dark.

From the Bands own 'Cake' to a stunning version of Cabaret, Audlem's

own punk ska influenced band The Defense finished the Bands spot.

Opening with 'Summers Gone' this band are still the tightest band

around, where are the A&R guys, Audlem surely has your next meal ticket!

The Duffey boys really want to thank all who came out to support the

night, surely all had a great night by all accounts, and to all those

who help to make it happen, you know who you are. Again, it was good!
