Chilli Night of live music

A Chilli Winter to warm the hearts of those that turned out to enjoy a great evening of live music at the Audlem version of Liverpool's famous Cavern!

Not glibly do we draw this parallel, not the screaming packed venue of the Cavern, but none the less a venue that pulls in some very talented bands.

There was a chilled atmosphere and a few new faces in the venue as the sounds of Poyzers 'Julie Rainbow' faded into the opening number from the hastily assembled Acid Madrigal's version of the Stone Roses 'Waterfall', typical of what a Chilli night is all about, new sounds, new line ups, new bands, old bands, new ideas and a venue!

The publicised Zoe Conning could not make the evening, Jack Marshall from Hollow Floor Studio in Audlem, who recorded the whole event, produced some of his own penned work acoustically. This talented singer songwriter is playing and performing some of the best material he has produced to date.

BandsThen the bands played, Swim in to Scarlet, a young band from Malbank school, performed in their own style 'Intro', 'Veins' and a cover version of 'Destination unknown'. This is a band to look out for hopefully at the Audlem Festival in May.

Airport Disco rocked up, a Project of Audlem's Foxy Wellingtons, that certainly got the place up and dancing with 'Lets dance to Joy Division', their own 'I like toast', a cover of 'Bullet Proof', another self penned 'Wasted British Youth', the Artics 'Mardy bum' and before finishing with a final cover slipped in their own " I am libertine' – the point being, spot the covers, such is the talent and sound of this young band – seamless!

The Wash stepped up next and what a polished performance. This band is really tight and playing some fantastic self penned material with the odd cover thrown in. Keeping the feet firmly on the dance floor took you back to the heady Manchester sound of the Hacienda.

Then to crown the night off, a new band Photo booth smile – a three piece band fronted by Jasmin Dean, with bassist Emma Dyall and drummer Craig Hatton.

They performed a stunning set of self penned material with just two covers that was a treat for those there to hear it. Vocally strong, the distinctive sound brought the final throes of the evening to a fantastic climax, this band are one to see now!!

TalentHaving put the Chilli nights on for a couple of years now, it's hard to believe the talent that has been seen, and that there is still more coming through. X Factor?! Next time you see a Chilli Night advertised, switch the telly off and come along you will not be disappointed. It was live and it was good.
