Local dressage team the Cheshire Chicks are flying high after qualifying for the British Dressage Team Quest National Championships.

The team, consisting of local riders Corrie Mclellan, Ellie Foster and mother and daughter Janet and Izzy Maughan won their place at the dressage championships, which is aimed at grassroots riders, by taking a well-deserved second spot at the recent North West Regional Finals, held at Warren Farm near Formby.

Ellie and Izzy, who is the youngest member at just 16, have been part of the team since 2014 and at the 2014 Championships came 3rd in the under 25's category. This year they are joined by Corrie Mclellan from Nantwich and Izzy's mum Janet who is a keen member of Nantwich Riding Club.

Janet says "I am so immensely proud to be a part of the team – the girls have all worked tremendously hard to achieve so much and this year is particularly bittersweet as it's Ellie's last year with us as she is moving on to more affiliated competitions.

Corrie and Izzy have also qualified to compete as Individuals in the My Quest section of the Championships in the Open and under 18's sections. Izzy has recently started training as an apprentice with Gemma Moss, the Audlem based dressage trainer and rider and is now looking for sponsorship to allow her to compete at an affiliated level.
