April sees a new year starting at Audlem & District Probus Club. Peter Bourne, our President last year gives way to his namesake Norman Bourne , or to horribly misquote a well known television programme "There's one Bourne every year" (apologies from the editor, that's a truly awful pun)

We are fortunate in Audlem to have a Probus Club that goes from strength to strength. Our speakers continue to maintain a high standard and cover a wide range of topics, most recently the Police and Crime Commissioner talked to us about his job and the challenges facing the police in Cheshire. Other upcoming topics include Sir Bernard Lovell, WWII POWs in the far east, Liverpool Cathedral, the Royal Stoke Trauma Centre and James Brindley, canal engineer.

Our social programme continues to entertain us and keep us busy. Planned trips include the Lion Salt Works, Macclesfield's Silk industry, the rose gardens at Adlington Hall, Carnforth station Heritage centre (famous as the film location used for "Brief Encounter") and Westonbirt Arboretum where we will all be "leaf people".

The club extends a warm welcome to all visitors. If you would like to learn more about Audlem & District Probus Club click here.
