Did you know that butterflies had zebra stripes on their antennae, or hair on their backs? These findings were incidental to the main topic of our evening, which was to see some wonderful pictures of perrennials in the garden of Martin Blow.

Martin and his wife run Hankelow Perrennials which specialises in these plants that last year after year in our borders.

Martin also has the National Collection of Helenium, the sun flower. He now has 120 different Helenium which come in a myriad of different combinations of colours.

His pictures covered many types of planting including the wonderful herbaceous borders at Arley Hall, colour themed borders at Wollerton Hall, and the gravel garden at Beth Chatto's garden in Essex

The secretary had invited two local ladies to come as visitors and I am sure that they enjoyed Martin's talk. He was thanked by Karen Gee. The winners of the competition for 'your favourite garden photo' were 1st. – Joyce Cross; 2nd – Karen Gee.
