What does it take to get a maximum entry in the monthly competition? Answer, suggest that members bring a pretty scarf.

The judge, our speaker Christine Salisbury, chose the scarf that best suited the person who was wearing it. Which constituded the basis of her talk on 'Finishing Touches' – how to choose hats, scarves and other accessories to match clothes and personalities.

Members tried on hats, were shown 10 different ways of wearing a scarf and learnt what colours suited them best.

A silent auction of the painting that Jill Adlington did when she came in March was organised and the new owner was Angela Lightfoot.

The recent coffee morning held in the Civic Centre realised £220 and all helpers were thanked. Travel arrangements to Harthill Cookery School on June 27th were made and the Malbank Group outing in November was discussed.

Competition winners were 1st Phyllis Vernon, 2nd Jean Cornes, 3rd Karen Gee
The raffle winners were Jean Kershaw, June Orend, Phyllis Vernon

Jean Cornes presided and to mark the Queen's Diamond Anniversary the meeting closed with the National Anthem
