A meeting amongst concerned parents has discussed the proposal to close Buerton school in July 2006. The closure threat results from a review of education in Cheshire called Transforming Learning Communities. The first area to be considered covers South Cheshire. Three schools, including Buerton, have been identified for possible closure.
Parents and local residents are determined to keep the school open. A similar threat 7 years ago was defeated by concerted action by residents and parents. Letters are to be sent and a possible petition from the community is being considered as well as any other actions to save the school.
