AudlemOnline is pleased to announce that Local resident Rodney Cottrell was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen's New Years honours List.

The citation read " for Services to Charity and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution"

As many in the village know Rodney and wife Christine together with a team of willing volunteers have been instrumental in establishing the Audlem Lass and Overwater Wheelyboat both of which have given so much pleasure to residents and visitors alike.

For many years Rodney has led the drive to raise thousands of pounds towards both new RNLI boats and boat houses along the coast.

Our congratulations go to Rodney and his team for such a well deserved award.
