Britain in Bloom

Each year we, ADAS, enter the huge North West element of the Britain in Bloom judging.

The area covered is from Barrow in Furness at its most northerly tip – right down to Audlem, the most southerly.

Over the past two years we have been awarded medals which are marked by plaques on the Lord Combermere wall by the flower bed. I met with the Judges on Monday morning at 9.20 for the 2012 event.

They arrived nearly two hours early so I had to very quickly rearrange my day. Long walks and talks with them, emphasising the community spirit here and the cleanliness – not a scrap of litter or graffiti.

I showed them the new memorial in the cemetery as evidence of the caring nature of Audlem and gave them breakfast as we the recapped on all ADAS does here, including the new and impressive membership booklets we delivered to every house.

I emphasised the generosity of residents and businesses in giving funds to help us in our work – especially in light of Cheshire East denying us any funds. 

They then left at 11.00am to carry out judging in all towns and villages.
