When Christmas is cooked and the goose is well gobbled
The presents presented and jellies wib-wobbled
It's time for a ramble to clear the thick head
A ramble with romance, with meaning instead
Of the merry meander 'tween pillar and post
To which all ARS trundlers are mostly disposed.
No compass is needed for this village lark,
No packed lunch prepared, it's a stroll in the park.
Groups get their instructions encoded in rhyme
On Audlem car park, at ten, on Dec twenty nine
So follow your noses, or better, the clues
To see where they lead, you'll need to peruse
The verses with care for the route to unravel
And solve a few puzzles as onward you travel.
Don't fear getting lost, there'll be no mishap
'Cos in case you get stuck we've added a map.
The clues bag you points if you answer them right
And you gain even more if the map's kept sealed tight.
It's as easy as peasy as peasy as pie
And the time that you take will soon settle a tie.
At the finish awaits hot mulled wine in a glass
For the winners, a trophy as this year's smart ARS.
Everyone's welcome, from far and from near
And a chance for new members to sign up for the year.
There's been so much rain, we've had quite a flood,
Be best to wear boots, in case you find mud.
