Police in Whitchurch are seeking witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was left lying in the road following a collision with a car which failed to stop.
The collision happened when the boy was on the traffic light controlled crossing near Doddington roundabout shortly after 4.30pm on Wednesday night (November 6th).
It knocked him off his feet and he suffered bruising and grazing as he landed heavily. The vehicle involved continued without stopping towards Whitchurch town centre.
Police Constable Steve Dalziel, the investigating officer, said: "The boy was lucky to have suffered only minor injuries. I would ask the driver to contact Whitchurch or Shrewsbury police stations.
"I am also appealing for witnesses of the incident, or anyone who knows the driver, to get in touch. Call 101 or contact the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
He added the boy was with another youngster of the same age and were returning home from school. The crossing is sited between Queensway and Edgeley Road.
The car was described as a blue compact hatchback.
