Audlem Bowling Club Set for Spectacular Charity Plate This Sunday!

Club Logo

Date: Sunday, 28th June 2026

Location: Audlem & District Bowling Club Green

IMPORTANT WARM WEATHER WARNING: With hot weather forecast for this Sunday, the club strongly advises all players, spectators, and volunteers to dress appropriately for the heat. Please remember to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and utilise shaded areas around the green throughout the day to stay safe and well-hydrated!

The final countdown is officially on! This Sunday, 28th June, Audlem and District Bowling Club will host its annual Charity Plate Doubles Competition. While this competition is a well-established annual fixture in our village calendar with a different cause chosen each year, this year's event carries a very personal meaning for the club. All proceeds raised this weekend will be donated to AMMF, the charity dedicated to fighting the specific bile duct cancer that sadly took our friend and member, Michael Katterloher.

The generosity and momentum across the club have already been absolutely incredible, and we are gearing up for a fantastic day of bowls, community spirit, and fundraising for this vital cause.

Key Timings for Players

For those competing, please note the strict schedule for Sunday morning:

  • 10:30 AM: Player Sign-In
  • 10:45 AM: Pairings Announced
  • 11:00 AM: Main Competition Start

The main 40-player grid is completely full and locked in, with reserves on standby to step onto the green if needed.

Incredible Fundraising Success So Far!

Thanks to the magnificent generosity of our members, our charity pot is already off to a flying start:

  • World Cup Draw Sold Out: The mystery envelope World Cup competition, masterfully managed by Geof Clarke, has been a massive hit and is now completely sold out! Good luck to everyone who secured a team.
  • Auction Triumphs: A historic set of 1958 Munich air disaster Manchester United programmes (donated by Wyn Yates) successfully sold on eBay for 90. A splendid BBQ and gas bottle (donated by Russell Black) was snapped up for 50.
  • Bonus Ball Winner: Congratulations to Janice Taylor, who won the first weekly 30 prize with Number 44!

How You Can Support on Sunday

We would love for the village to come down, cheer on the bowlers, and help us raise as much as possible for AMMF. There are still plenty of ways to get involved and join the fun on the day:

  • Spot the Jack: Also looked after by Geof Clarke, you can buy a square on the bowling green chart for just 1. If you correctly guess where the jack lands during the Charity Plate final, you could walk away with a 75.00 jackpot!
  • The "Spider" Competition: Managed by Heather, this crowd favourite (formerly known as "Bowl to the Bell") will take place during the day. Get your eye in, line up around the green, and get ready for a fun, fast-paced challenge!
  • Silent Auction: Head into the clubhouse to place your bids for two luxury items: a beautiful original framed artwork by Sylvia Stead, and a luxurious Rookery Hall Bed & Breakfast stay for two. Simply pop your bid slip into the secure box before the final draws on Sunday.
  • Grand Raffle: Don't forget to grab your raffle tickets from the team captains at 1.00 per strip!
  • Food to Share: A quick reminder to all members and attendees to please bring along some food to share to keep everyone fed and happy.

Whether you are playing, supporting, or just want to enjoy a lovely day out for a wonderful cause, we look forward to seeing a great crowd on the green this Sunday!

P.S. The clubhouse bar will be open throughout the day to keep everyone refreshed!
