The roof of St.James' Church was well and truly raised (if figuratively only) on 3rd October by the ADAS Concert, "Saturday Night is Music Night" featuring the double bill of the twenty five musicians of Crewe Brass and the forty two singers of the Simply Allsorts choir.

Over one hundred in the audience were entertained by a variety of music and song which judging by the applause, was much appreciated.

First on stage were Crewe Brass with a mixed set including the main theme from the Columbus film 1492 followed by fine horn playing soloists with a soulful "Goodbye to Love".

Simply Allsorts followed with a rousing Zulu welcome song and pieces as diverse as "Somewhere beyond the sea", "I'll be there", gospel numbers and "Alexander's Ragtime Band".

After the interval the second half included "An American Trilogy" (Elvis Presley) by Crewe Brass in stirring style and a jazzy "Puttin' on the Ritz" from Simply Allsorts.

Both groups received enthusiastic applause and the evening finished with a well deserved encore.

It is hoped that both the band and the choir will be able to come again in 2016 and from all accounts they will surely be extremely welcome.
