It was an another convivial evening in the Lord Combermere last night when a local shooting party returned from its expedition to mid-Wales in need of refreshment.

To the surprise of many, they were accompanied by a new arrival, and one who was clearly delighted to arrive in his new home – Buster, the Welsh lamb.

Abandoned by his mother at birth, the Jacob/Texel cross in black and white (yes black and white, but we simply couldn't resist the headline) was wandering around a farmhouse in Llanfyllin in the Berwyn Mountains. Just three weeks old, he was clearly in need of a loving home.

One of the Audlem party, Edward Frayling, of Bunsley Bank, pictured here with Buster, immediately came to his rescue. A price was agreed, the required documentation for the transportation of livestock was completed, and Buster was soon on his way to Audlem.

His arrival at the Lord Combermere was greeted initially with some surprise, but soon celebrated with raised glasses. Buster, however, being seventeen years and forty nine weeks too young to imbibe, was limited to milk.

Audlem, as regular readers know only too well, cherishes its links with Wales. So, Buster, just three weeks old but clearly happy to be here, welcome to your new home.
