Staff at Corbrook Court, in Audlem, were celebrating this week at their annual awards evening. The awards, presented by Dr Peter Leftwick of Audlem Medical Practice, ranged from First Aid and Food Hygiene to NVQs, mentoring and management qualifications. A special award was presented to Housekeeper Nettie Howells who originally joined Morris Care as a care assistant in 2002 and now, as well as her housekeeping duties, fulfils the role of Activities Co-ordinator for the home.

Sue Humphries, Chief Executive of Morris Care commented: "Through her time with us, Nettie has built up a happy and hardworking team. She is extremely popular with both residents and staff and is always cheerful and is a wonderful asset to Morris Care. All members of our team are encouraged to work towards additional qualifications, should they wish to, and it is fantastic to see so many people being rewarded for all their hard work."

As well as success, Spring was also in the air at Corbrook Court this week as residents and staff celebrated the arrival of the new season with music, poetry and flowers. With relaxing music playing, residents picked out their favourite 'Spring' pictures and created their own collages using freshly picked flowers from the grounds of the care home.

"We like to encourage our residents to be creative' commented Julie Bristow, Corbrook's Nurse Manager. "Art is both relaxing and therapeutic and has the added bonus that all of our residents and guests can enjoy the final results."
