Two successful attempts by teams including Audlem walkers were made on the Welsh 3000s on June 14th.

Chris Knibbs, as a team of one, left the top of Snowdon just before 5am after a sleepless night on the summit.

ATB Welsh 3000, comprising Tim Elliott, Will Williams, Connor Mcilwrath, Andrew Sherwood and Jack Shepard started at roughly the same time, but from the bottom of Snowdon and so were well behind Chris all the way round.

From Snowdon the route includes Crib Goch, Elidir Fawr, Y Garn and the Glyders, Tryfan, Pen-yr Ole Wen, the Carneddii, and so on and so forth to finish at Foel Fras. Any one of which would be a daunting task to spell correctly, never mind climb, to a normal person.

Chris completed his circuit just inside 12 hours – ATB Welsh 3000 took longer at under 15 hours, but this included the initial climb of Snowdon.

Chris's other unfair advantages are a bionic hip and about 40 years of experience – at his age he should know better, some would say.

All of them report a welcome pint or three at the end of the walk, and no blisters!

They have already had promises of significant sponsorship contributions, but would be very happy to receive more.

Chris's efforts are in aid of Staffordshire Air Ambulance, and he can be contacted on chris_knibbs@hotmail.com">chris_knibbs@hotmail.com.

The ATB Welsh 3000 team are supporting the Welsh Air Aumbulance and donations can be made via www.justgiving.com (The website link that was here no longer works)

Congratulations to all concerned, and we just hope they never need the services they are supporting!
