This week's Chronicle gives extensive coverage of the appeal for funding that's been launched by Audlem's Scout & Guide Hall. Chairwoman of the Hall's committee Christine Cottrell is pictured with Julia Parton and Suzanne Baxter. Christine says in the article: "I have been involved with the Hall for 40 years so I know how much it needs to be brought up to standard. We need to fit new double-glazed windows, a new floor, suspended ceiling, extend the heating system and re-point the entire outside of the building."

The Hall was originally built as a Methodist Chapel and was used as a church hall to St James' Primary School before the new school was built in Heathfield Road. The 1st Audlem Guides and the Scout & Guide Hall committee purchased the building in 1982 when St James' Church granted them a free mortgage.

The Hall is used not only by the uniformed organisations but also the Women's Institute, Embroiderers' Guild, Audlem History Society and Audlem Ju-Jitsu Club.

Gift Aid forms have been distributed via the post this week throughout Audlem. If you would like to help in any way, please call Christine on 01270 811454 or Andrew Bradshaw on 01270 812295.
