Celia Bloor of the Audlem District History Society writes: "It may not be as exciting as the Google van but you may have seen an elderly gentleman pointing his camera at your roof a couple of weeks ago. If so, it was Gerald Emerton who specially tailored his talk to the History Society on Thursday night by using Audlem roofs as examples in his fascinating talk which went back to the Romans and the dissolution of the monasteries. One listener learned that their ridge tiles were earlier than 1835.

"You may also have seen two ladies of a certain age with clipboards wandering about on separate occasions. Fear not, we were looking for clues to the age of buildings to get the children of Miss Hill's class date spotting when they go on a tour of the village this week (weather permitting)."
