Yesterday, Audlem Online was featured in a lengthy interview on BBC Radio Stoke who wanted an update on the Royal Mail stories we have been publishing.

After reprising an earlier interview from 25th January, we confirmed that the chief executive of Royal Mail, Moya Greene, had still to provide an answer to the questions posed in a letter to her sent on 12th January by Audlem Online.

We said that two holding letters had been received which simply acknowledged our letter. We then detailed some of the failures published in the past week – the 42 days for a card to cross from the east to the west of the village and the 64 days it had taken an item to travel by post from Cardiff to Audlem.

Our description of the calculations of how much faster a snail could travel across Audlem in forty two days seemed to amuse the interviewer, Stuart George, who then asked what should now happen.

Two suggestions were made – firstly, that there should be a Parliamentary Inquiry into the collapse of a vital Government-owned service. Secondly, that the chief executive, who clearly cannot run Royal Mail judging by what has happened, and cannot even provide an answer to a letter in four weeks, should consider her position.

Finally, the BBC said they would ask Royal Mail about the allegations that a large quantity of mail had been dumped in a marquee in Warrington. We have been told that items had disappeared and there had been little security provided. There have been many complaints on Audlem Online and elsewhere of mail going missing.

Finally, and this was not covered in yesterday's interview, it's clear the problems continue. A Chatbox message has just been posted on Audlem Online from 'Bramble'. It says: "Is this a record? Just received today (8th February) a Christmas card posted in Nantwich before Christmas. Or is it for next Christmas?"
