Audlem Lass team celebrates

It was the Audlem Lass laying-up Supper last night.

The boat's crew, their partners, plus the important group of “behind the scenes helpers” spent the evening at the Audlem Scout and Guide Hall to celebrate the end of yet another successful season.

A smashing fish and chip supper was laid on for all the guests, followed by a power point presentation of the boat's activities throughout the season. Several RNLI videos were also shown during the evening.  

Rodney Cottrell, Chairman and Christine Cottrell, Treasurer of the Audlem Lass Boat Service, presented Douglas Bowyer-Bates, Treasurer of the RNLI Crewe and Nantwich Branch, with a cheque for £2,500 as an interim payment from the donations received to date. 

As the Village is aware, the Audlem Lass is at the moment safely tucked up in the boat shed having her face washed and polished, fairy lights and music system fitted so that she is looking her best for the Audlem Village “Big Switch On” and more importantly that she is ready to deliver Father Christmas and his helpers safely to the village on Thursday 29th November. 

Once again the boat crew would like to thank the Village and Overwater Marina for their support through out the 2012 season. 

The statistics for 2012 are:
Total Passengers: 4,138
Total trips: 1821
Volunteer hours: 1176
Dogs, bark bark: 146
Push chairs: 26 

This means that over the past two seasons of operation, the Audlem Lass has carried a total of 8,253 passengers, plus 224 dogs of various shapes, sizes and hair styles!

Looking at the “canine” statistics, do you think that the Audlem Lass Boat Service should be “Registered with the Kennel Club?”
