Audlem Lass, the new weekend boat service on the Shropshire Union canal, has carried 873 passengers and raised £701 in donations so far in its first two weekends.

The boat has made average of 25 trips a day between Audlem's Lock 15 and the Overwater Marina and all the profits from the service, which is manned by a team of volunteer coxswains, go to the RNLI, the lifeboat charity.

The Easter and May Bank Holiday weekends have proved extremely successful and Rod Cottrell and his team have been delighted by the public's response. The boat will operate again next Saturday and Sunday.
