Audlem now has a place on the official superfast broadband roll-out map – but families will have to wait until Spring 2014 at the earliest to get connected.
And residents of neighbouring Burleydam are out of luck as Cheshire East looks for additional funding to enable a fibre upgrade.
The website Connecting Cheshire has undergone a major revamp ahead of the forecast roll-out.
Audlem families can now check out when they are likely to get an upgrade to faster broadband services by typing in a telephone number.
Unfortunately those connected to the Audlem exchange only get the message: "High speed fibre broadband isn't available for you yet, please keep checking as we release roll out information."
At least Audlem has at last been included on the official map detailing the roll-out of high-speed fibre connections while neighbouring Burleydam remains 'under evaluation' for an upgrade.
According to the website Audlem will get superfast broadband under the Connecting Cheshire programme at some time between Spring 2014 and Summer 2015.
New facilities on the revamped Connecting Cheshire website include a 'Line Checker' where you can register and be assured of being contacted as soon as more information on the roll-out timetable becomes available.
You can access the new Coverage Map on on the Connecting Cheshire website here. The map shows where fibre will be deployed but the only information currently on offer is the general roll-out date of between spring 2014 and the end of summer 2015.
British Telecom was awarded the £28.5 million contract to roll out superfast fibre broadband services across Cheshire last June.
BT engineers have been drawing up plans to upgrade exchanges and roadside cabinets across Cheshire but admits it may be some time before details are announced.
Meanwhile, across the border in Shropshire the first villages to enjoy superfast connections have already been named and dates fixed for the phase one roll-out in January 2014.
