Many, many thanks to everyone who has helped to start this new initiative.

I've had the pleasure of leading the Planning Team comprised of Roger Millns, Phil Lloyd, Joe Hoyles, John Tilling, Rodney Cottrell and Carol Keeley. We all feel a great wealth of support from the village but the initiative will only be successful if volunteers continue to give of their time.

Basic infrastructure is now in place. Carol, our coordinator, has done a magnificent job in creating a staffing rota for the Festival weekend and is now looking toward June. The Team is considering ways in which the existing Information screens can be made interactive and we are building a data base as a reference for volunteers. We need help from volunteers in all these activities as well as in manning the Information Point itself. We need to be creative, so please pass on comments and suggestions to any member of the Team and please consider helping yourself.

As we head into June and through the Summer we will develop ways to implement and improve the service. Right now, I am concerned about the demand on volunteers' time and wonder if we should have shorter (say hourly) staffing times. Would this be more convenient for you? Could you contribute to creating and maintaining an interactive data base for the screens? Would you be able to provide and up-date information on the activities of shops, clubs and societies within the village? Should we offer information on surrounding events which do not compete with the village? The Planning Team next meet on Friday, 14th June, when ways to develop the service will be considered.

Your thoughts on these points, and any others, would be greatly appreciated.
