6th of August – Match day and we are off to Wrenbury to face Nantwich Young Farmers.

Before I go any further, I must apologise to Chris Anderson for saying it was "Chris Evans" who scored last week!! Stupid mistake on my part. Hope I get his name right if he scores this day.

Team numbers. We scrape together just 12 players. School Holidays and players who say they will be with us but do not turn up. And our numbers include those who have been working into the small hours- in Nantwich. Hope they can muster up enough to keep the effort up.

11.02. Kick off

with Kev Mort as manager and Referee today. Good weather. Good surface on a pitch very seldom used nowadays. No village events on it. A true contrast to that in Audlem. Great move by Bradley Jones as he races up field – passes to Andrew "Beko" Betterley, who shoots but goalie tips it over. A very good move by us.

We are on top at present – and even as I say this to myself I worry that a might be putting a hex on the team. Some warmth from a hazy sun. Which is welcome. Much attacking moves by both sides as pressure grows on us by NYF team, Then a great ball from Joe Benson racing up the pitch- Met by a running Pete Jones, who crosses right away and Joe meets the cross – and scores!

11.25 1-0 to Us!!.

And Joe's third goal in two games!

11.42 1-1

As we play towards the whistle, they score.

SEOND HALF

Kev Walters now the Ref. We get a free kick right on the edge of their area and full of running. Kev Mort now playing. Connor Baxter in our goal pulls off great saves at a time when they looked so aggressive in attack.

12,10

and Pete Jones has to leave for a family event

12.15 1-2 to them.

Then, a superb shot from distance flies into our net.

12.16 2-2

Play moves up field at a pace, Brad passes to Joe Benson, he crosses to Beko who shoots., Goalie cannot hold the ball and Chris Anderson races in and score from the rebound – his second in the two games.

A very good game showing togetherness and good passing . Bodes well for the coming league games. And against a team that has slaughtered us in the past.
