Audlem crime calls to police double in July

Police were alerted to a total of 16 alleged crimes in Audlem during July, double the number for June.

Crimes reported to police within a one-mile radius of Audlem village centre included nine of anti-social behaviour, three of criminal damage, two burglaries and one each of violence and vehicle crime.

Three reports of anti-social behaviour and one of criminal damage were near Kingbur Place while Aldelyme Court reported two cases of anti-social behaviour and one of criminal damage.

Another report of anti-social behaviour was investigated on or near Broadways and one was reported on Bagley Lane.

A suspected burglary was reported near Salford and another at Hilary Drive. Cases of anti-social, criminal damage and vehicle crime were also reported on or near Witton Close.

Anti-social behaviour has made up nearly half (45%) of reported crimes in Audlem between May and July this year with a total of 17 cases in the three month period.

Next highest was five reports of burglary (13.5%), followed by four of criminal damage and arson (10.8%) with the same number for vehicle crime and offences of violence. There was a single report of theft(2.7%).

The great majority of reported crime (15) required no further action by police while one suspect was charged and four are still under investigation.
