This coming year we reach 150 years since the decision to create an independent resting place for all within the ecclesiastical boundary of StJames Church.

See attached PDF which details the time table of those days long ago.

To mark this – and of the same importance, to mark the Platinum Anniversary of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth , we, the Burial Board Committee, will be planting 40 trees as avenues to each of the new path extensions.

HRH Prince Charles has made an appeal that 3 million trees be planted as a mark of the platinum celebrations over June 2nd to 5th , taking over the normal May Bank Holiday weekend .

I am at present in discussion with Tree Nurseries as to the trees we will choose, but all are slanted to those best for pollinators.

Since announcing this aim, I have had many requests from those who wish to take the opportunity to have a tree in the new planting to be a mark of memory to a loved one.

To date 20 of the trees have been booked for individual memorial . If anyone else wishes to do the same, please contact me asap.
