On Friday 6th September, Aston and District W.I. members were welcomed by our President Jenny Bourne to the afternoon meeting
The meeting began with the usual business. Scrabble and Domino Classes are as usual.
Forthcoming Meetings:
Margaret Bourne thanked all the Bowls Ladies for winning the Shield. Well done.
Our President then introduced our speaker, Jean Finney, who gave us a talk on "Witches and Superstitions"
She gave an interesting and humorous talk about the history of witches and superstitions between 1542 and 1736 when many women were accused of being witches. People were extremely superstitious in those days thus affecting their views on every aspect of life. Superstitions have continued through the years and she quoted many examples keeping us amused and entertained.
The vote of thanks was given by Rose Lomas
Our competition for a Family Superstition was won by Glenys Inight.
The Social Half Hour Quiz was enjoyed by all.
At the end of the afternoon Heather Pass presented Dorothy Relton with flowers and a card to celebrate her forthcoming Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
Next meeting is on Friday 4th October in the afternoon when Pat Stalker will take "A Look at Life!"
Visitors and New Members are always welcome, more details can be found on our website – here
