Our President, Mrs. Jenny Bourne welcomed members and visitors to our May meeting on a beautiful sunny evening.
This meeting is prior to the National Federation AGM in June. Our President and Vice President recently attended a meeting to hear more background information on the resolution "Mental Health Matters". Mrs. Irene Williamson presented a report on the resolution.
Following a brief discussion, all members voted in favour.

Our Darts Team did very well coming runners up in the Final.
This month our speaker was Alison Long with a talk entitled "Ann Summers to Bethlehem" which as you can imagine, was very lively and hilarious! The idea for the event came to her on return from holiday. Straightaway she started developing and organising the project which eventually became known as 'Stitches and Stems'
In preparation, Alison bought several redundant mannequins from a store the intention being to dress them as Biblical characters, clothed in knitted squares – thousands of them – and all knitted by the local community. It was a mammoth task which brought friends and families together to create a spectacular production. All agreed it was a wonderful event. When it opened in every chapel, the work of the community had turned each mannequin into a Biblical figure within the setting of its story on the journey to Bethlehem.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Sue Thomas.
Our competition 'A Garden Bird' was won by Mrs Val Shutt.
The meeting next month is on Friday June 1st when our speaker will be Mr. Tony Bostock talking on Cheshire Villages. Do come and join us, a warm welcome awaits.
