Aston & District W.I. December 2019 Report

On Friday 6th December our Vice President Mrs Irene Williamson welcomed members and guests to our Christmas Party Lunch held in Sound and Broomhall Community Room. Unfortunately, our new President Mrs Rose Lomas was unable to attend the party due to illness.

We opened the meeting with Jerusalem and the business was kept to a minimum. The walk and classes are on hold until February.

The Luncheon Club will meet on 10th December at the Bhurtphore Inn in Aston at 12.00 noon for 12.30pm.

After the business we all enjoyed a delicious hot meal followed by plenty of tempting sweets. During the meal Kay Epton gave us her interpretation of "The 12 Days of the WI" encouraging us all to join in. While we enjoyed our tea and mince pies, eight pupils from Wrenbury School entertained us with carols, a lovely way to end our afternoon. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Ann Pye.

The competition for a piece of Christmas Jewellery was won by Mrs Heather Pass.

Our Christmas Party concluded with the National Anthem and our Vice President wished us all a Happy Christmas and looked forward to seeing us all in the New Year.

Our next meeting is on Friday 7th February 2020 at 2.00pm at Sound and Broomhall Community Room.

The speaker will be Mr Keith Evemy – the Story of Harold Shipman. The competition is a Decorative Pill Box.

Visitors and New Members are always welcome, more details can be found on our website – www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
