This coming Saturdays' walk on 9th March is organised by Peter Kay and is to an area ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) has not explored before. Below is his description:

The Clent Hills are a cluster of grassy-topped hills south west of Birmingham. They give good views of the Severn valley and north Worcestershire. Access is quick and easy via the motorway network: M54, M6, M5. Paths are in general good and there should not be too much mud.

There are toilets near the start and after lunch. The 1700 ft of climbing is broken up into manageable chunks. There are some short steep sections. The climbs and the 10 mile distance put it at the easier end of the 3 boot category. It is broadly similar in difficulty to the
walk I led in the Wyre Forest in the Autumn.

We start from free roadside parking near the Nimmings Wood visitor centre, pass the Centre, and climb to the Four Stones viewpoint before descending to Clent village. We then climb Walton Hill, with views of Birmingham and the Lickey Hills, before picking up the North Worcestershire Path. This crosses a deep wooded valley and later the M5 before climbing up to the viewpoint in the Waseley Hill Country Park.

We recross the motorway and ascend gradually to Romsley. We then contour back along the base of the hills to our start point.

Start time is 8.30am. Parking is in Walton Hill Road at SO 943 803.

Andy adds: "Peter's walks are always interesting and I do suggest you try and make the walk if you possibly can. 8.30am meet at Audlem car park.
