ARS, the Audlem Ramblers Society, is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this weekend.

From small beginnings, when walks might include only a handful of enthusiasts, the group has grown into a group that can see thirty or more members on walks in the local area or as far afield as Snowdonia, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales or the hills of Shropshire.

Expeditions to the Lake District or Yorkshire each Spring attract large numbers while the introduction of Short-ARS walks last year, typically 5 – 7 mile walks and fairly local, has added to the appeal and membership has expanded rapidly in the past two years.

The anniversary will be celebrated with a BBQ later today.

It's been a busy weekend for the group with a Short-ARS walk heading off on local Audlem and Lightwood Green footpaths only yesterday.

ARS walks, typically from 9 – 12 miles in length, are every 2nd Saturday of the month and Short-ARS walks are normally the last Saturday of the month.
